| Bakgrund |
Klubben bildades 1886 av en grupp arbetare vid Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory i London. De hette först "Dial Square",
men bytte snart namn till "Royal Arsenal". 1891 blev klubben
professionell och tog då namnet "Woolwich Arsenal". 1893 gick de
med i fotbollsligan och blev "Arsenal" 1914. Första säsongen på
legendariska Highbury 1913 spelade de för övrigt i vinröda
tröjor. Observera att de har spelat i högsta ligan ända sen
1919!
